  11.      Once upon a time in elementary school, our class clown said
  12.      something that he wasn't
  13.      supposed to. The words he spoke so incensed our teacher, that she
  14.      punished the whole
  15.      class to teach us a lesson. To rationalize her actions, the
  16.      teacher said, "the good have to
  17.      suffer for the bad" and "one bad apple spoils the whole barrel."

  19.      It seems that this same brilliant method of punishment is still
  20.      in effect today and being
  21.      imposed on those whose speech, art, and ideas have been deemed
  22.      "obscene" or otherwise
  23.      inappropriate by the PC crowd.

  25.      Of course you know of the legislation which seeks to hold
  26.      Internet service providers
  27.      accountable for the actions of individuals. It should also be
  28.      apparent that legislation must
  29.      be enacted to prevent such a tragedy from ever occurring to
  30.      anyone, ISP or not.

  32.      For this reason, I have even attempted to draft a Law of
  33.      Responsibility.

  36.      It's purpose is twofold: first to require that all people be
  37.      responsible for their actions thus
  38.      seeking to eliminate the "I'm a victim" disease; and secondly to
  39.      punish lawbreakers while
  40.      protecting individuals and companies from being held accountable
  41.      for actions committed by
  42.      others.
  43.  
  44.      The bottom line is, it is not the governments responsibility [or
  45.      right] to impose morality on
  46.      its' citizens; or raise our children.
  47.  
  48.      Since both child rearing and morality vary according to cultural
  49.      and social differences, it is
  50.      unconscionable to impose a "one size fits all" ideology to cover
  51.      the many and varied
  52.      peoples of this nation.

  54.      Obviously we need laws (and there are) to prevent adults from
  55.      intentionally soliciting and
  56.      harming minors, and punish those who do. *You must admit,
  57.      however, the world will not
  58.      come to an end if your child happens to see Pamela Anderson's
  59.      "boobies."*
  60.  
  61.      So during these 24 Hours in Cyberspace, let us send a message to
  62.      those who wish to
  63.      censor and silence our First Amendment rights, preferably by
  64.      exercising your free speech
  65.      while you still have it.

  67.      If you wish, you can quote the four horrible words of our class
  68.      clown.....
